Standard Payment Terms Explained
Setting clear payment terms is crucial for managing your cash flow. If terms are not explicitly stated, statutory defaults (often 30 days) apply in many jurisdictions.
Common Terms
- Due on Receipt: Payment is expected as soon as the client receives the invoice.
- Net 14, 30, 60: Payment is due 14, 30, or 60 days after the invoice issue date.
- EOM (End of Month): Payment is due on the last day of the month the invoice is issued.
- 2/10 Net 30: The client gets a 2% discount if they pay within 10 days; otherwise, the full amount is due in 30 days.
